the install path for Microsoft dynamics NAV web server components cannot be found

Hi

I am trying to add a another Web Instance using the new-NAVWebServerInstance command and I get the error.

"the install path for Microsoft dynamics NAV web server components cannot be found"

Our web server is separate to our NAV apps server and we have a working Web Instance already so I feel the system is working correctly.

I log on the apps server (not the web server) and start a Admin Shell as an administrator and then issue the command

New-NAVWebServerInstance NAVPARALLEL -Server NAV-Apps -serverInstance NAVPARALLEL

Can anyone tell me what might be going on?

Thanks

Laurie

    Hi Khoa

Thanks replying. Looking at the error message a second time I think the command should be executed on the web server as well.

Unfortunately the NAV shell is not installed on the web server so I decided to create a new web instance by copying the existing one and creating a new virtual directory.

This mean a few simple changes to web.conf file and adding the new port to the Delegation list

So in the end it is now working for me.

    Thanks again for your help

    Cheers

    Laurie

    Hi LaurieS,

I think the command should be run on Web Server. Before running the command, on Web Server, you should:

    - Install Web and Client components.

    - Make sure Client work fine (connection between Web Server and NAV Server is good).

    Hi

Do you know if this command has to be executed on the server with IIS installed.

I am installing on NAV Server because it has the Admin power shell where as the web server does not?

    Thanks

    Hi Khoa

I read the document and added the -clientServicesCredentialType Windows argument.

I checked the web.conf of  working web instance and it is using Windows so I know this is the correct type.

    Unfortunately the problem still exists.

The web.conf for the new instance is not being created at all because this error fails before New-NAVWebServerInstance  gets a change to create the new instance.

It is like the command does know where go to get to Web server components

    Thanks
