Not the answer i was hoping for, but thanks for youre reply. Does anyone know how much time or costs it will probarbly take to perform such reprogramming ?
You can pick only if you have quantity on hand by standard. You can use checkbox to allow or disallow the negative inventory functionality only if you do not use WMS. If you use pick/put-away, you must have quantity to work and allow negative inventory functionality does not work in this case.
Of course, you can reprogramming this functionality as you want, but I would not recommend it.
Hello,
After reading this post i have another question about this topic. If you use a warehouse with the standard pick functionalities is it absolutlety impossible to have a negative inventory? Because i want to implement a new method where is doesn't matter how much negative inventory the system has for particular ( cheap) objects, because i will correct it at the end of the year. Is it for example possible for a company to change the programming code so that the functionalities of picking still can be used but some inventory locations can have a negative inventory. A ticking box per location would be very useful so is there someone who achieved this?
Best regards
Joeri
Hi Yoseph,
Thank you for posting on the NAV Forum.
In standard Dynamics NAV 2009, a company may post entries of inventory into a negative quantity situation under several standard setup structures. There is not an option checkbox to allow or disallow the negative inventory functionality. The system either allows it under certain setup or disallows it under certain setup, where the difference in setup includes how the Location record is setup and how the Item records are setup. The exceptions to allowing negative inventory relate to when Warehouse Integration occurs, such as using Directed Put-away and Pick, as well as when Bins are used. Also, standard Pick functionality requies that the inventory be in stock in order to PIck inventory, thus preventing negative quantity. In addition, certain setup, such as the use of Item Tracking under Serial Number or Lot Number specific tracking.will preclude the posting of negative inventory.
It would help to fully answer the post by knowing what options are currently selected on the Location f- Warehouse Tab and what specific Item setup is currently being implemented, such as whether Serial Number or Lot Number Specific Tracking is currently being used.
Please provide further details of the setup currently being used so that a complete answer can be provided.
Best Regards
Tom
