Has anyone had any success in putting together a security role for Team members. We mainly create our own custom entities and don't use as many of the CRM system OOB features.
You can create and assign security role to users. The license type does not impact what security role can be assigned to the users.

So the license type has no impact on the security role that can be assigned to a users, if I have a team member licence it can be given security roles such as system admin that would be similar to the professional license. So I could change my team member license into having similar access rights as a professional license through add the security roles?
Yes you can but you have to make sure you trim the permissions to be compliant .
