Portal Invitation Invalid via custom workflow

Hello

I have an issue with redeeming invitation codes that i just cannot get my head around even after reading several related posts.

I know that creating an Invitation 'manually' (from the button on Contact) and then sending an email (via the flow selection in the ribbon) works fine.
But, I want to automate that process, because it adds too many steps to our overall process. (In short:  we've got a custom entity, in which we select a Contact for whom to create an Invitation. For people to complete this entity, then go over to the Contact, create the Invitation, save it, then Send it, which is hidden in flows rather than a nice obvious button........ it's too much to ask from staff.)

MY SET UP:

So, I have a custom workflow that (a) creates a new Invitation record and populates it so that it's associated with the relevant contact, inviter, single invite.

Then I create and send a custom email which includes a hyperlink with the Invitation Code, to register.
The hyperlink looks like myorganisation.powerappsportals.com/.../Register

All this (seemingly) works fine. When you click the hyperlink in the email, it takes you to the registration page, it populates the Invitation Code and all you gotta do it click the Register button.

MY ERROR:

And that's when I get the "invalid Invitation Code" error.

From what I've read and from own experience I'm assuming it relates to how the Invitation is created.  Do it manually and it's all fine. Do it via workflow and it's not.  BUT WHY?!

Am I missing a step? Can it even be done?

Any suggestions will be hugely appreciated!! Thanks,
Pete.

UPDATE -- I found the issue/solution for the problem I described above.  In my workflow I hadn't correctly added a Contact to the Invitation. I only used the Name field (which is not a link to the Contact). There's another lookup field, called Invite Contact that needed to be populated with a Contact.

That said... upon registering, I get a screen full or errors. It looks a lot but pretty much comes down to this:

Message: adx_invitation With Id = xxxx Does Not Exist

However, looking at the Invitation and Contact, it does appear to have registered and I can indeed log in as that Contact.

Not sure yet how to sort that out.
