NAV 2013 R2 Multy Tenancy licensing

Maybe someone can help me. I need to know some specific things about licensing if clients wants to start using the new multy-tenancy functionality. My case is following: Right now there are 3 different licenses. Now they want to go to the new version and they want to start using this new functionality Multi-tenancy system.

If we want to use multi-tenancy for companies that are located in different countries then for which companies should we buy which localizations? For example we have 1 company from Estonia, 1 company from Latvia and 1 company from Lithuania. Currently ( in the version 5.0) they had 3 different database and every company had only localization granule from their own  country. Now we will migrate all localizations to 1 application database. Should all companies buy all 3 localization granules as otherwise they cannot access to some standard objects that are using different country localization? Should all three company buy Extended Pack functionality?

I'm sorry Kaili, but if your customer needs to run multiple country localizations with the same database...they should consider moving to Dynamics AX.

    Hi,

In NAV , Multi localisation in one database is not supported even with multi tenancy.

Hi, I have some different opinion. I used a few localizations in the same database. This is not so easy for merging, but it is possible. But, this is not related with multi-tenancy. I used it on older versions without multi-tenancy. The best solution is to use one common license with all localizations range and with more users.

If you want to use these companies on different tenants and different license, probably you have to have all functionalities and  localizations in all license. This is because some of localizations may be used on standard objects. I cannot give you answer for sure, but it is possible. I think you need extended pack only on companies you need, not on all.

You need to make tests for this environment, but the best is if you can to merge all licenses in one with more users.

    Hi,

    Please refer below link,

    kauffmann.nl/.../directions-emea-2013-multitenancy

    License:

"License can be in the tenant database and in the application database. When the tenant has no license, then the license from the application database is used."
