Keep track of all Opportunity Products of an Opportunity

Hello,

I have been requested to keep track of all the Opportunity Products that are in a certain opportunity, and also the Opportunity Products that have been included in the past, before its deletion.

One idea to came to our minds was to, somehow, "deactivate" the opportunity products instead of deleting them from the Opportunity Products list. I'm not sure if this is possible or not.

However, if deletion is the only possible way to get rid of these opportunity products, I would like to know how can I keep track of these after its deletion.

Does the Opportunity store the record of Opportunity Products associated with it during its life cycle?

Are the "deleted" opportunity products not deleted entirely? Is there a log somewhere where I can check which Opportunity were they related to?

Thank you in advance,

David.

    Hi davidspace,

In the opportunity line(product) entity, there is no status field,so you can't "deactivate" the opportunity products.

If you have deleted records, you can check them in the audit view:

Or you can check them through Recycle Bin xrmtoolbox:

Retrieve Deleted Record From Dynamics CRM – Learning Refresh (home.blog)

And The opportunity and opportunity has 1:N relationship, maybe you can create another new relationship between them.

You can then copy the original lookup field value to the new lookup field, clearing the original lookup field, which is considered an indirect "delete" opportunity product, these opportunity products will be removed from the sub-grid in the opportunity.

If you want to check which Opportunity were they related to, you can navigate to opportunity line view to check new lookup field value.
