Dynamics NAV 2016 to CRM Integration with multiple companies

We are currently working on a Dynamics NAV 2016 to CRM integration project using the new out-of-the box integration.

The setup and first synchronization seems to work pretty good. However we came across a question we could not find any comments in the documentation. How does the integration handle multiple companies? Especially in the case that a CRM account should be linked to different NAV customers in different companies? I could not find any reference to a company ID in any of the integration tables.

Does anyone has experience with this?

    Hi Felix

We have been doing this. We find that, although it's not mentioned by Microsoft (and so is probably not officially supported) the connector itself seems robust enough to manage it.

So long as you only "couple" records from NAV, each NAV company maintains it's own coupling record between the customer record in NAV and the account record in CRM, and we have found this works. However, you must use different "integration user" logins for each NAV company connector (or the connector will not be able to recognise when a CRM record has been changed by the other NAV system and so should be synchronised).

However, the NAV integration solution in CRM is only designed for a 1 to 1 configuration, so it either has to be customised or replaced (we have our own replacement) if you want to have multiple NAV companies linking to one CRM. Also some additional customisation is needed in NAV to update CRM when the customer balance etc. changes in NAV. However, you can do without this if you don't need to see customer balances in CRM or launch a NAV web client from CRM.

But, as you said to begin with, Microsoft do not document a multiple NAV companies to one CRM configuration.

You should not be worried about that.

If you planned users profiles / companies auths (under NAV) / BU auths (under CRM) people should view only customers accordingly to their authorizations.  the out-of-the box integrations works with a system account (usually granted for all CRM's BU) , as far as i know the user's SPN works as the key which identifies which operations can be done between NAV and CRM. For example, if you successfully set up integration in NAV against CRM, if you do not insert email address accordingly to primary crm email, NAV's users cannot see CRM's customers/orders and all the other stuff.

We would like to make an identical set-up. We're using the version 9 NAV integration solution.

You say you replaced it, by an different solution you wrote your selves?

    I see that this

Metaphorix  firm in UK is no longer in business but had made some tweeks to NAV / CRM integration to handle the out of box 1 to 1 configuration: company, customer, etc.  Does anyone know of Metaphorix solution and / or still using it?
