InventJournalTrans Orphan Records

Hi all, I have discovered several orphan records in the InventJournalTrans table in AX 2009. The records exist in InventJournalTrans, but not in InventJournalTable. They show up as incorrect production signals in the Net Requirements screen for that part.

Would it be possible to just delete the records from only the InventJournalTrans table, or do I also need to delete other records in other tables to solve the problem? Or could I just run the Basic - Periodic - Consistency Check and let it fix the problem if it finds it?

    The check will not recreate missing journal headers for you I am afraid. Those would only be restorable from a backup most likely.

    Deleting records from such a table directly is not a good idea, since inventory, costings, financials go hand-in-hand in an integrated ERP system, and you could do even more damage.

    Are those posted transactions lines? Do you have financial transactions associated with them? If they are open, you could just create a fake header for them and get rid of the transactions all together. If they are posted, then your situation should be properly analyzed by an experienced warehousing consultant to make such a call, to see what records are missing and which ones are there. It comes down to a lot of factors for which a forum would be too limited to give proper instructions.

    Hi Vilmos, I don't believe that there are any financial transactions on the journal lines (the DateFinancial field on the two records is empty when I look at them in the InventTrans table). If I look in the Transactions on the item to view the lines, I see that the transaction is set to on-order, which is possibly why no financial transactions yet exist). Would that make it easier?

    If there are no financial transactions and it is not posted, you could delete the lines then. Delete actions and method should take care of the rest of the linked entries.
