Hi,
I saw that with the calculate inventory function, it brings the quantity in stock for the base unit of measure. Is it possible to count the inventory for an other unit of measure and enter the quantity in this uofm?
in exemple, lets say I have an item 1 with a base uofm = pcs. An other item uofm is case (6 pcs in a case).
Could I enter that I have 6 cases of that item 1 in the phys. inventory journal? Or do I have to enter 36 pcs??
I would like to be able to enter both uofm, is there a way? When I try to enter the uofm, I receive an error message "phys. inventory must be equal to 'no' in item journal line."
Thanks
don't think you can change your unit of measure during stock taking. it is going to be base unit of measure, unless you customize it.
Thank you but when I try to change the uofm, I receive an error message "phys. inventory must be equal to 'no' in item journal line."
Would you know why I receive that?
Hi,
In general it is possible, yes. You always have a field called "Quantity" and a field "Quantity (Base)".
"Quantity (Base)" holds the quantity in the base unit. E.g. when entering 6 in "Quantity" and select Case in "Unit Of Measure", the field "Quantity (Base)" would contain 36. Keep in mind that you have to maintain the "Item Unit Of Measure" per item to tell BC how many single units are in a Case-unit.
When using Zones & Bins, the Bin Contents would be in the unit you have counted. This can cause problems, because the inventory (and reservations) is maintained in the base unit.
E.g. you have a total of 36 which is available as 6 cases. You enter a Sales Order with 35 and create the Warehouse Documents. In this situation you would have to allow a breakbulk. Because one of the cases, must be opened and 5 pcs must taken out to fulfill the order. This process must be supported by your warehouse.
As an alternative, you would have to make sure that you enter the correct unit in the Sales Order. So instead of 36 pcs, you would have to enter 6 cases. This must be supported by your sales team of course as this might clash with the original order of the customer.
It's a possibility for one of the locations to use bins & zones, so I have to look at all the options..
Hi,
This depends how do you manage your inventory and the setup of your items.
Do you use Bins & Zones?
