Posting Date is not within your range...

Posted on by 170

When trying to post an inventory adjustment I am getting the following error message: Posting Date is not within your range of allowed posting dates in Item Journal Line Journal Template Name=",Journal Batch Name=",Line No.='0'.

I've checked user setup (1/30/12 thru 05/31/12), general ledger setup (01/01/12 thru 03/31/12) and inventory period (all 2012 are open) and the posting date, 01/31/12, should be okay.  What am I missing?

Thanks,

Hugh

RE: Posting Date is not within your range...

    Hugh,

I have seen this when trying to adjust inventory on transactions related to older months whereby you need the Allow From/To to be accessible. Best approach if the Allow From/To is within the Posting Date of the User, I would ask your Partner to Debug the post to see what Posting Date is being read to pop the error. My guess is the date is prior to 1/30/12.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks,

    Steve

I'm new to NAV and these issues might be solved, but I had this same issue. I found my user access had a limited date range for posting. Once this was updated I was able to post the JE I was working on.

This sometime might have to do with an adjustment entry that the system trying to perform that is not within the users allowed dates. Was there an adjusting entries visible before the posting date error? You may find your answers there.

    Hi Archer,

I understand that when you debugged, you got the cause of the issue.  Alicja was specific on the question - your scenario might be different from their scenario - BUT giving a more detailed response would have been more appreciated :-)

Like you could have said where the debugger pointed and how you managed to resolve the issue given your scenario - this is helping the community be better, I guess.

    Thank you.

Put a message before error with Posting Date and check what is in posting date field..
