Extensions and Customization

Hey,

I have one theoretical question, I have two projects in a solution, one uses a model that is of Application Suite package, another uses model of a separate custom made package. In first project I have created some customization of elements, in another I have put the extensions of other elements. But what would be the impact if the extensions of the second project would be replaced to the first project? Shouldn't I do it? Thank you.

It is a good practice to have all your extension elements in an extension model(new package). Even if you move your extension elements to the custom model that is created in Application suite package there is no harm in it. However you have to update model references if missing.

What do you mean by "replacing to a project"? Do you mean moving your objects from your own package to the package owned by Microsoft? It it would be exactly the opposite direction than what you should aim for. You should try to have your code in your own packages, to maintain isolation, simplify builds and prepare your solution for the day Microsoft will lock their packages.

There come one more issue :) , my Custom package has reference to Application Suite, but Application suite cannot have reference to my Custom package and therefore cannot use the elements. Why is it the other way as it was before with Directory package?

You have many ways. You can see some suggestions in a similar thread where I replied a short while ago: AX365 Customization: Overlayering and extensions.
