Licensing help

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Our company purchased MS Dynamics NAV in 2015.  Since that time, the employee who purchased the product has left our organization.  Further, we no longer have a relationship with the NAV vendor who we purchased from.

I am now tasked with acquiring the licenses (license files/license keys, etc) and also establishing a relationship with a Nav vendor.  I have a vendor in mind already, but haven't set anything up yet.

As the end user, am I able to obtain the license information I'm seeking directly from Microsoft?  If so, can someone point me in the right direction?

Any advice would be appreciated!

Thank you all for the replies, I now understand the process better.  I found some additional information on my end which has helped.  Once we choose a new Partner, I'll follow the steps mentioned here.

As others mentioned the new partner with whom you establish relationship can provide you the license or you can always contact your old partner and check if they can provide you the license.

One other thing if you have access to Navision you can always export the license from the application and check your registered modules.

If you had already purchased licenses, then you should have the access to CustomerSource of Microsoft. Also, you are now attached to an old Partner. You need only to switch to your new Partner that you have in mind, and he will assist you in everything else, including provision of the details of your license and access to CustomerSource.

Refer to this previously discussed topic re Partner Change Form:

It is very simple process. You can just contact another partner. They would help you to fill up the Partner Change form.

Once you fill the form, your account would be attached to new partner. They can immediately help you to provide the License File from the Microsoft Partner Source portal.

Vendor can also help you to provide the Customer Source login details, where you can access all the Training Material, Videos etc. provided by Microsoft. This is very helpful portal for Customers.

Let us know, if we can help you further in this regards.
