I think what you are looking for is a custom field that sets the duration field.

Create a new custom field i.e. Duration (Hours) type whole number.

Create a Business Rule that sets the OOB Duration field to the custom field x 60.

One thing to remember with Duration is that it will show in 24 hour blocks which can confuse users as it will display as 1 day and not 3 days presuming 8 hour days. However when you assign it on schedule board if the bookable resources hours are 8 per day it will create a 3 day booking.

RE: How to change the Service default Duration from Minute to Day

    Hi JKR,

Duration fields can be used to show a whole number as x number of minutes, x number of hours or x number of days instead of just showing the whole number of minutes to the user.

On the back end, the duration field is configured as a Whole Number field with a format of “Duration”. This format is what provides the magic of the translation of minutes, hours and days.

One of the beauties of the Duration field is that users can manually enter time in minutes, hours or days. And the system is smart enough to round up to the larger increments.

    Note:

As this field is a whole number data type, the actual data that is stored in the database is the number of minutes. This means that views and forms will show the “1.46 days” but charts, exported data and FetchXML reports will show 2100 minutes.

Im assuming you are talking about the Incident Type Service record?

This will have a field called 'msdyn_duration'. You canot default it to days as it is a number field essentially.

But if you are selecting a duration then you need to scroll down to see the 1, 2, 3 days section
