Is Dynamics 365 for Finance & Operation is the online version of Dynamics AX?

Its been 2 hours now I am banging my head to understand how the Dynamics AX, GP, NAV (and other Dynamics ERP) product relates to the Dynamics 365 (Online) Products/ Apps. I found that Dynamics Finance & Operation is actually Dynamics AX but then where did Dynamics GP go? Is Dynamics GP called as Dynamics 365 for Retails and Dynamics NAV as Dynamics 365 for Business Central? And then What is Dynamics 365 for Talent? Is it a subset of Dynamics AX?

Could anyone clarify this please?

    Hi,

Take a look at the link below,

    www.appseconnect.com/microsoft-dynamics-365-product-line-versions-solutions

Dynamics GP doesn't come into Dynamics 365 business application. Dynamics 365 is a business solution package which is a great mix of AX,CRM and NAV.

That it had been splitted into several modules.

Dynamics 365 for Talent aims to be an Employee Centric solution that takes your common HR functions and brings them together in a meaningful way to both your managers, HR staff and your prospective and current employees. Modules included Human resources, onboard and attract.

    Best,

    Uday.

The documentation might give a good perspective on what is used for what:

    [View:https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/#pivot=business-apps:750:50]

The idea is to move away from canned products, and blur the line between them to offer it as a solution package. Like AX lacked good CRM capabilities, and now you will have it by sharing content between the two applications via the Common Data Service/Model.

Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations is the successor of Dynamics AX.

Dynamics 365 Business Central is the successor of Dynamics NAV.

Dynamics 365 for Customer Engagement is the successor of Dynamics CRM. It has many submodules such as Dynamics 365 for Sales and Dynamics 365 for Customer Service.

Dynamics 365 for Retail is sort of a subset and a part of Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations.

Dynamics 365 for Talent is a new application, built on the same platform as Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations. But it's not a part of D365FO.
