Renci.SshNet.dll for file transfer in AX7

Hi Experts,

I could not find any out of box api in .NET for SFTP. Most of the forums recommend Renci.sshNet.dll

for file transfer through SFTP.

I would like to know whether the Renchi.sshNet.dll is recommended by Microsoft to use in AX7.

Kindly give pointers.

    Hi Sridhar,

    Why do you want to use SFTP in the first place? What business requirement are you trying to fulfill? Possibly there are better ways as I have met several companies which do not allow for configuring solutions based on FTP or SFTP.

    Our customer is using SFTP to transfer files in their existing solution and they wish to continue in AX 7/D365 Operations.

    Is there any better solution recommended by Microsoft. Kindly highlight.

    Who is Audrey?

    I cannot answer a question from the point of view from Microsoft. You have to provide information about what information is being sent from where to where. You haven't answered my previous question about the business process. Moving a file is not a business process, but a part of a solution which might be OK, but probably there is a better alternative using e.g. services.

    Sorry for my error(Audrey instead of Andre).

    Business scenario: We are generating Product details info in XML format in AX7 and have to place it in SFTP server. A third party application takes the file from SFTP server and consumes.

    So the other (third-party) software system is the one who needs to pick up a file. If it is possible to communicate using web services, it would be better.

    Otherwise, indeed use a dll like you mentioned.

    HI Sridhar,

    You can use renci.sshnet.dll in your code . Using this you will be able to generate file from AX which will be stored in azure blob and from there transferred to SFTP. You can parameterized your SFTP credentials in AX and use them to upload the files .
