We have a few SSRS reports that are set up to automatically run on the 1st day of each month.  No changes to the reports but they are not being saved to the shared folder specified (that hasn't changed either).  On the Subscriptions page in Report Builder, the following error message appears:

‘Failure writing file \\adcfs11\elc\shared\Corporate\Finance\Automated Scheduled Reports\GP Users by Company and Roles\GP Users by Company and Roles 2021_11_01_084541.xlsx : A log on error occurred when attempting to access the file share. The user account or p’

The message stops there and I get no further information

Nothing in SSRS changed – looking to get more info…..

If you have the permissions, you can just Manage the report on the reports server and update the credentials used with your own as well.

You would need to create a dedicated account used for running the reports (usually termed a 'service' account). When we create reports we use this specific AD user account that acts as a user for our SSRS reporting needs, doesn't have a password that expires and cannot be changed. The user is granted all network, folder and database object access necessary to run reports and distribute as needed. However, I work in the IT Department and we do not give this service account credentials out to anyone outside of IT...so this may have to be adjusted to work in your environment.

    I hope this helps.

The person who's account is listed as the owner and in the credentials box did have to reset their password.  This person will not be with the company much longer (I'm their replacement).  What has to be done to ensure that this (and some other SSRS reports) will run as scheduled?  The reports are used for audit purposes.

    RE: Automated SSRS report question

I assume the user account used is an AD account? It is saying that it is unable to access the file share.

Check that the account is not disabled, locked out and that it still has permissions to write to the specified folder location.

You can also logon to a PC with that account and navigate to the folder path you have listed to confirm it has permissions to the file share.
