chargeable weight calculation in WMS/TMS

In our business process we have to calculate the chargeable weight for both the inbound and outbound shipments.  Calculating Chargeable weight is as follows:

Calculating chargeable weight:

Volume = (length x width x height)

The Volumetric weight calculation varies based on the type of the transport.

Volumetric weight for Air - (length x width x height) / 6000 - Cubic Centimeters per Kg

Volumetric weight for Courier -(length x width x height) / 5000 - Cubic Centimeters per Kg

Volumetric weight for Road (Also referred as Economy) -(length x width x height) / 5000 or 6000 – Only for customer it is 6000 and for all others it is 5000 -- Cubic Centimeters per Kg

For Air, Courier and Road -  Gross weight compared with Volumetric weight, Which one is higher we will consider it as Chargeable weight                                                                                                                              -Volumetric weight for Sea - (length x width x height) - Cubic Meters per Ton or Cubic meters per kg (For Sea we will not compare  Volumetric weight with gross weight. we will consider volumetric weight as the  chargeable weight)

Please guide us how to implement this in WMS / TMS

    Dear,

    I think you need to define four carrier service. A. Road B. Ocean C. Train D. Air. Each service should have different rate master where you can define the range of weight. Like 1-50   $1, 51-500 $.95 and many more. System will calculate your load and will provide you the volume of the load based on item dimension(Volume = (length x width x height)). And you can get different price based on volume on rate route workbench.

    Volume is calculated based on item package dimensions and it varies from time to time. After calculating chargeable weight , based on it we can choose the rate using rate masters. Before that we have to calculate the chargeable weight. How can we implement this?
