Workflow error: invalid tracking submission

Dear All,

I am getting workflow error when i run Tutorial_WorkflowProcessor.

"invalid tracking submission expected context Workflow and expected type Submission actual context WorkItem and actual type DueDateExceeded."

Version: AX 2012 R3

CIL,AOS & machine restart done, but not resolved

Hi Asif,

Can you tell what workflow type is used; its settings and if there are customizations involved? Did you perform a CIL compilation? Did this CIL compilation complete successfully?

Thanks Mr. Andre,

1) Purchase requisition. Did customization in PR workflow which was running fine & started getting error recently. Few PRs are getting stuck with status in review without assigning to user

2) CIL done successfully.

I suspect the corrupted data for these workflow instances. Have you tried to cancel/update status of these records to not-submitted and ask user to restart the process by submitting PR again.

Hi Asif,

Can you also tell about the customizations? Do you know if someone tried to change table contents related to the workflow version? Like Sohaib mentioned, first try to recall and resubmit the workflow instances.

As you explained, Identified those PRs which was in review without assigning to any user, recalled and submitted for approval & working successfully.

But still Tutorial_WorkflowProcessor shows error.

It seems still there are more corrupted records which throws error @ WorkflowTrackingTable::saveTracking() inside faultWorkflowInstance() of SysWorkflow Class. I am not sure how this can be fixed or what is reason for this.

I don't see an easy way to fix corrupted data, other than if you recall and resubmit those workflows. The issue which you have got could be because of any reasons, such as if someone tried to modify configuration of workflow directly from tables whereas meantime the instances of that workflow were pending yet. This might have broken down your data. There can be other reasons as well. Since system is not in our hands so its hard to say what has went wrong. if this is production system, remove system admin access for all people. let them do work on DEV server if it is required.

Hi Asif,

To resolve this, I have found that the due date of workflow work items are expired, so I have written job to update the due date and set it to future date time. After this, the error is resolved. Please have a look at: github.com/.../Workflow%20Due%20Date%20Time%20Exceeded%20Error
