Chained Surveys - Linking Back to a Respondent's ID in Parent Survey

I saw this previous thread that didn't have an answer as of a year or so ago:     I'm looking for something similar and wonder if there are any updates.

My Use Case

In survey 1, I ask respondents to include their emails. After completing survey 1, they have the opportunity to chain to survey 2 (or survey 3 or survey 4) to provide additional information on different topics. How do I link the responses provided in survey 2 (or 3 or 4) to the same respondent in survey 1?

My current work-around thought is to have them provide their email at the beginning of each new survey, which isn't very elegant, but would at least provide me a value to key off for building a Power BI dashboard. Is there some other value or key already built into the schema that would allow me to track participants' responses across chained surveys?

Thanks!

Hmm, interesting thought. I have a few questions:

Do you need the respondents to fully complete the first survey? How and when do you want to send the follow-up surveys? Are these anonymous responses or known contacts?

If you want to immediately capture additional information, then you might be able to leverage the advanced branching logic to show/hide more questions. You can do some really neat stuff here, and with this you can show entire sections of questions only based upon a given response to an earlier question. This seems the most native solution as all responses are captured at once.

If you go the email route as you'd suggested, you could pass the surveyresponseid of the initial survey as a custom variable to the new survey invites. Then you'd have a direct parental link for use in Power BI.

Thanks, Chad. I think I'll go with the Branching option you mentioned. As you pointed out, that's probably the cleanest way to do this. Thanks for the suggestion.

I think that option should work well for you. I'd love it if you marked my suggestion above as verified if you found it helpful.

    Best of luck!
