Planning Action Messages

Posted on by 20

Hello All

I am very new to Navision and I would appreciate some guidance.

During the production of an order, we sometimes find we have a stock error of an item. When the stock has been adjusted and the plan regenerated the Planning Worksheet will show the immediate requirement to order replacements from the vendor with an historical order date as expected. In this situation where we are within the vendors lead time, I will speak with the vendor and agree an expedited due date to ensure the production order is completed on time. I will then create the purchase order with the agreed due date. If I then regenerate the plan I receive two action messages for the item, one is to cancel the recently placed purchase order and the second is to create a new order with its historical order date. I do not want to use Planning Frequency on the purchase order line to prevent this as I still need notification to cancel an item in situations where the originating demand is canceled.

There is no route defined for Production Item. The Dampener period for the purchased item is 2 weeks and is Make-to-Order

I would appreciate if someone could clarify the reasoning for the action and if there are any settings / methods to prevent this.

Thanks

Thank you for your reply. Assuming all settings are in place with the exception of the route, could the lack of a route cause this effect and why?

    for accurate planning, you need

    1. Item/ SKU planning parameter

    2. Lead Time with items

    3. Machine Hours

You can plan the purchase from

    1. Planning Worksheet using MRP

    2. Requisition Worksheet

    3. Order Planning.

Try explore the Help file on MSDN, almost everything is clarified there.
