Our organization uses Analytical Accounting -- a user recently posted journal entries on a workstation where AA wasn't installed, and therefore the entries did not post to Analytical Accounting. Is there any way to take existing journal entries in GP and add them in the AA tables?
HI,
Thank you for using Microsoft Communities.
If a user has posted transactions on a machine where AA was not installed, you are correct. there would be no AA data for those entries.
Microsoft Dynamics GP Support does have some scripts that may work for you to repopulate data, but first would need to review what the data currently looks like. For this assistance, please open a support case.
Thank you,

I don’t have the screens in front of me right now - but I believe there is a way to edit any JE posted into the GL and assign AA distribution if the accounts are set to as AA assignable
Hi,
As Bill mentioned you may be able to use the "Transactions > Financial > Analytical Accounting > Edit Analysis" window to add\edit the AA analysis to the posted journals.
Thanks
Gavin
Thanks Gavin, was just looking to update this posting - returned very late last night.
As long as the original GL account that is being posted to has been configured in AA then you can edit the Journal entry, as Gavin points to the correct location, and make the distribution manually this way. It will take a bit of time to open and code each distribution, but I know from experience that is can be done.
Good luck.
Do you know why this doesn't work on a reversing journal entry? I attached the AA code to an entry that was reversing (sept 30/oct1), both entries are assigned the same JE #, but only the original entry was assigned the AA code, not the reversing entry. Is there another process I missed (how do I get the AA code assigned to the reversed entry i.e. Oct 1)? Thanks
Carolyn, how did you create the reversing JE? Did you use the General Ledger >> Correct feature? I will have to test this out but I don't know if there is a setting - none that I recall - that addresses reversing transactions.
The entry was completed by another person, but I believe they used the check box to reverse with date selection. I used the "Transactions > Financial > Analytical Accounting > Edit Analysis" window to add the AA code to the posted journals.
I was just curious if anyone knew off the top of their head. I'm good with doing a new JE to correct those reversing entries, there are only a handful & are part of a large entry 200+ entries.
Thank you.
