Hi all,
Error message: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. at Microsoft.Dynamics.AX.AXUpdateInstallerBase.AxUpdateBaseData.ExportToFile(String filePath) at Microsoft.Dynamics.AX.AXUpdateInstaller.Program.InstallUpdate(String[] args) at Microsoft.Dynamics.AX.AXUpdateInstaller.Program.Main(String[] args)
Hi BillDoors,
Can you explain what type of package you are deploying and on what machine? How was this package created? Did you unblock the package?
Hello Bill,
Please change directory to the MajorVersionDataUpgradePackage directory before you run this command. I can reproduce this issue if running it in another directory.
Hi Ada and André for your inputs.
I am applying package AX2012DataUpgrade-10-0-8
I am trying to upgrade my database.
I am following the steps listed here: docs.microsoft.com/.../install-deployable-package
But I keep getting the error message.
Ada,
Sorry, I think I'm not following you, you mean using C: instead of D: ?
Which of the two procedures are you using? The DevInstall or the runbook steps? Did you also check if the zip file was unlocked?
The DevInstall
I did it again from scratch and made sure to unlock the zip file, still getting the error, unfortunately
In that case, can you also try the runbook option? I had also a package recently which did not install using the devinstall option, but the runbook process did it correctly. The devinstall option is only working for application (AOT) packages only. The DataUpgrade might include some platform changes as well.
Hi Bill,
Accoding to your screenshot, you were running the command under "D:", while AXUpdateInstaller.exe will call some files under D:\MajorVersionDataUpgradePackage when generaring the runbook, which couldn't be found under D:
So you can try to run the command "cd MajorVersionDataUpgradePackage" to change to this directory before you run the generate command
Hi Ada, it worked!!
Thanks a lot.
I ran through step 10 and on step 10, I get this error message. It usually come when you do not apply hotfixKB4048614 CU10 in Ax2012 database
But in my case I have already done this. Can you please look if you can guide me in right direction. . It looks like system is looking for a record in SysSetUpLogTable.
Have you check all the overview steps in docs.microsoft.com/.../upgrade-overview-2012
Please make sure the pre-upgrade checklist was completed successfully.
