User permissions necessary for new company

Posted on by 772

In Dynamics 365 Financials, Business Edition, if you create a new company from the Cronus trial company and you have your user with Super permission set, no company, do you need to assign any other permissions to access the new company?

I thought I saw somewhere that you had to assign distinct permissions for all new companies but can't locate anything to that fact now.

Please explain.

I understand that this thread is old and probably the initial requestor might have found an answer. But just to help others that may encounter this thread,

@Mary Carrero needs "Dynamics 365 Business Central Team Essentials" license to accomplish her task of being able to create a company with "SUPER" permission set.

Can you private message me their tenant name (the url they use to access financials)?  I can look it up and tell you.  I don't remember the name of the license as it is shown through the O365 Admin portal.

    I think it'll be - DYN365_FINANCIALS_BUSINESS_SKU

    Thanks,

    Chris

Can you point me in the direction of understanding what I see for the licensing?  If they purchased a subscription, what would that be called?

    Hello,

I can't remember the exact name of the license, but you should have at least 1 Full Financials license.  A team member license is also not going to be able to create a new company.  If you don't have at least 1 full license then you need to go to the CSP to have that corrected.

    Thanks,

    Chris

Can you tell me what the product license should be listed as?  All I see is Team members Business Edition.  Is that the problem?

the client has a license.  I just don't want to take one of their licences for my use.

    Hello Mary,

That is the trial license, if the trial is expired then you would run into permission errors as well.

    Thanks,

    Chris

I tried copying a company (my only option) and I get an error  "you do not have the following permissions on TableData company: Insert"

Yes, the experience is set to Suite

I do not have credentials to other users, unfortunately.  I do have global admin rights, My user didn't have any licenses assigned so I assigned Dynamics 365 for financials for IWs (not sure what that one is but there were over 9000 left so I figured I could use it).  That didn't change anything.

Also check the 'Company Information' window and make sure the user experience is set to 'SUITE'.

    Thanks,

    Chris

    Hello Mary,

Can you try another user?  Are you logging in with Delegated Admin rights, or a full user?  I don't think it matters, just throwing out ideas.

I just tested with a user with SUPER only (blank company) and it's working.  You may want to double-check the permissions.  I haven't tried this on the latest update... what version are you if you look at the System Information window?

    Thanks,

    Chris
