Microsoft.Dynamics.Nav.Client has stopped working

Hello,

We are in the process of moving over to Microsoft Dynamics NAV. At this stage we have consultants in going through bits on how the system will work etc. We have a set of key users who they want the software to be installed on so when trying starts taking place they can go away and have a 'play'.

I've installed the client onto a couple of machines without any issues apart from one. The client installs fine and I've done everything the same way as the others but when I try and run the client after it comes up saying Microsoft.Dynamics.Nav.Client has stopped working. Logs are below.

    Hello all,

Sorry for not following up recently. We have since found the issue. In the end we had the same issue on 3 machines so we started working out what was the same/different. It turns out NAV2016 doesn't like Microsoft Office 2010. We've uninstalled 2010 and put on 2016 and now the client fires up without any issues.

Many thanks to you all trying to help on this one.

could be that Microsoft.Dynamics.Framework.UI.WinForms or one of the dependent assemblies is corrupted or missing. maybe there is a problem with the harddrive. run a drive integrity check tool, then try again. also check windows eventviewer for details.

Do you see any messages in Event Viewer? What is the OS version installed on these laptops?

What is the SQL Version / Edition?

All machines are 64bit OS. I've tried a repair and doesn't appear to do anything.

Are you installing on a 32bit OS? NAV 2016 won't run on 32bit.

If you are using 64bit OS try repairing the setup.

I've also now got another laptop where when you go to load the NAV client it starts the process but after about 5-10 seconds the application then closes. The end user doesn't see anything. Any ideas on that one?

    EDIT:

I'm now at the same stage with both laptops. The one that was giving me an error message now displays nothing after installing the SQL bits. When you click on the NAV client to load it if you are in task manager you see the process load but same as the other laptop, after about 10 seconds it goes.

What is the OS installed on this particular machine? Try to apply latest OS Service Packs / updates.

Also, try installing "Microsoft SQL Server Management Objects" and "Microsoft SQL Server 2014 Express" available in Product Installation disk with Administrator rights.

If nothing works, you may reinstall the complete OS & setup the fresh network. It should  work.

Have you logged in to a machine with another user or from the same user you tried different NAV logins? What authentication type you have? Have you tried launching the client with directing to user profile?
