Microsoft.Dynamics.Nav.Client has stopped working

Hello,

We are in the process of moving over to Microsoft Dynamics NAV. At this stage we have consultants in going through bits on how the system will work etc. We have a set of key users who they want the software to be installed on so when trying starts taking place they can go away and have a 'play'.

I've installed the client onto a couple of machines without any issues apart from one. The client installs fine and I've done everything the same way as the others but when I try and run the client after it comes up saying Microsoft.Dynamics.Nav.Client has stopped working. Logs are below.

There has been a discussion on similar issue some time ago:

Also, refer to the last reply in this thread regarding System.IO.FileLoadException error, might be helpful: forum.mibuso.com/.../nav-2013-r2-client-stopped-working-when-started-from-network

I've gone through the links on the pages and had no joy. One thing I did double check was that the user didn't have One Note installed which he didn't.

    Thanks for trying to help.

Does the problem appears on this computer if you connect with a different user? Try complete re-installation of client. Check the time-zone settings for this particular working place. Also try to refer directly to user profile when launching client (see primarilynav.wordpress.com/.../microsoft-dynamics-nav-client-has-stopped-working-error-when-starting-nav-client ).

    Alexander,

This is my next step. I'm trying to get hold of our end user again so I can log him off and log on as someone else to give it a try. I've already done a clean install and also tried doing a repair also but had no joy. Hopefully logging on as a different user will give some ideas.

Indeed, try to refer directly to user profile when launching client.

We finally got around to trying to log in as a different user yesterday and we run into the same error. I've installed this onto about 7 or 8 machines now without a problem apart from this one. All users are laptop users so it's not like it's been a mix between desktops and laptops plus we stick to the same spec machines.

Have you logged in to a machine with another user or from the same user you tried different NAV logins? What authentication type you have? Have you tried launching the client with directing to user profile?

What is the OS installed on this particular machine? Try to apply latest OS Service Packs / updates.

Also, try installing "Microsoft SQL Server Management Objects" and "Microsoft SQL Server 2014 Express" available in Product Installation disk with Administrator rights.

If nothing works, you may reinstall the complete OS & setup the fresh network. It should  work.

I've also now got another laptop where when you go to load the NAV client it starts the process but after about 5-10 seconds the application then closes. The end user doesn't see anything. Any ideas on that one?

    EDIT:

I'm now at the same stage with both laptops. The one that was giving me an error message now displays nothing after installing the SQL bits. When you click on the NAV client to load it if you are in task manager you see the process load but same as the other laptop, after about 10 seconds it goes.
