Dynamics AX 2009 Components64 Installation Fails – Error 1603 & Registry Issues

Hi,

I'm trying to install Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009 Components (64-bit) from a network share on WINDOWS 11, but the installation consistently fails with error code 1603.

I've reviewed the Components64 Log.txt and noticed several issues:
Error 1402: Cannot access certain registry keys.
MsiSystemRebootPending = 1: System seems to require a reboot before installation.
Error 1325, 2262, 2228: Related to missing MSI tables or invalid folder names

Still, the only registry key that appears is:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Dynamics
No subkeys like 5.0\Setup\Components are created.

Has anyone encountered this issue before or found a reliable fix? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I have moved your question to the Finance forum, that supports AX, hope you don't mind.
While I haven't tried installing the AX2009 client on Windows 11, you're in for a world of hurt if you try to do so.
It's an old kernel that's not designed for Windows 11, so while you might be able to install the client (which I doubt, since you get odd MSI errors), it might act up when you run it.

Another aspect is that it's not best practice to run the client on local computers, as it's sensitive to latency and connection dropouts.

My advice, and I know it's not answering your concrete issue, is to set up a Windows Server instance and install the client there, then remote into the server or use a remote app solution like Citrix.
That's what I've been doing for all of my AX2009 installations.

Thank you for your response! I forgot to mention a very important detail — on cleanly installed computers running Windows 11, we are able to successfully install Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009. However, on machines that were upgraded from Windows 10 to Windows 11, the installation fails. Interestingly, on computers where the program was already installed before the upgrade, it continues to work without issues. We’ve tried updating various required components, but nothing seems to help.

    Hmm... This is interesting indeed.
Maybe the upgrade forget to bring missing components with it? I need to play around with the installer unless other people chip in.
