Need help with the Security Role for a user being able to "Change Password" of Portal Contact

Hi,

we are running on UI and the specific user is able to change password in classic interface, however in UI when the user hits the "Change Password" button nothing happens,. However it works for me as an administrator. So I believe its a Security Role issue, however I was not able to find which one?

    Hi Martin,

In my opinion, this is by design.

There is no special permission to control the contact password in the security role.

By default, only the system administrator can change the password, and other security roles are not allowed.

You could view your permissions by selecting Task Flow on the toolbar at the top.

Please refer to these two documents:

    Hi Lu,

thansk for the reply I understand there is actually a security role for the "Change password for portal contact"

this works fine to assign to a administrative user position that does not have the system admin role. However this works for now only in classic interface, however in the new UI it seem that the Change Password function does not recognize that security role.

Maybe this might be a bug, I will try to open a ticket to MS and see what outcome we get.. I will post the result here.

    best regards

    Martin

    Hi Dave,

yes there are two steps to complete here,

In the Security Role Settings please make sure the user has the following permissions:
    2020_2D00_02_2D00_11_5F00_09h03_5F00_44.png

And than go to customization and locate the process: "Change password for portal contact" and set the security role for the process to the one you will be using!

    hope this helps. :)
