Remove multiple contact from a static segment

Hi,

I searching for an easy way to remove a contact out of a static segment. I know that it is possible to remove a contact by navigating to contact --> select the contact --> select the remove from segment option --> choose the correct segment but this does not seem  very user-friendly to me.

Therefore I tried to remove the contact from the members tab in the segment area. In the members tab I can see which contacts are part of my segment. Thats why I recognized that someone is added by mistake. Now I want to remove the contact right on this tab. Is this anyhow possible from that area?

Thanks a lot in advance.

    Hi Manuela,

When you open a live status segment, you could click "Edit" button in command bar, then the segment will be in "Live, editable" status.

Just remove contacts from the members tab and save the modified record, the segment will be "Live" status again.

Different status of Segment entity have been introduced in this section:

    Hi Clofly,

thanks a lot for your fast Reply. Unfortunately this does only work for members that have been added via the segment query. However if I added someone via contact --> add to Segment manuelly I cannot remove it afterwards in this Segment section. Do you have any other idea?

    Hi Manuela,

Unfortunately there is no solution to solve the situation you mentioned at present.

Actually, "Add to segment" and "Remove from segment" commands in Contact form are designed to enable users such as salespeople, who know their contacts well but don't have access to the Segment entity, to manage the segments a contact belongs to while working directly with that contact record.

Thanks for finding the behavior that contact who is added from command button couldn't be removed from Members tab.

You might still need to stop the segment then remove members that you want. Please suggest your requirement to Ideas forum to make it could be get achieved in future release.

    Clofly

    Hi Clofly,

thanks again for your fast Reply and help.

Do you know if it's possible to show all Segments of one contact in the contact tab? The reason for this is that e.g. a salesperson could see in which Segments the contact already is and where he should add it if he/she does not see the Segments Entity?

Thanks in advance and best regards,

    Manuela

    Hi Manuela,

you can add members to the static segment by query and then remove them selecting one by one, query is not influencing anything.

I have also added a contact to a segment from a Contact card and then deleted it from the members tab of a segment  -all the same way. It looks that all works fine. So please explain - why you can;t delete the contact in the scenario that you have described? Do you get an error message? or what prevents you from performing a delete action?

    Hi Manuela,

In previous version(before 2019 wave 2), it is possible to show related segments of one contact person in tab, because there was linked relationship between two entities.

However, the design has changed in recent version, the Segment uses a new mechanism to collect members, the process is one-way.

Currently the workaround would be iterating all segment records, and list all members by msdyncrm_FetchContactsByQuery action,

if current contact could be match to any retrieved member, then push the eligible segment  record into an array.

Also, if you press Remove from segment button on the ribbon (from the contact record), you will see all segments where this contact is part of. Doc is here docs.microsoft.com/.../manage-segments-from-contacts

    HI Elena,

thanks I know this view. I wanted to show it in a tab not in a separate window. But as a Workaround this is ok.

    Best regards,

    Manuela

    Hi Elena,

    thanks for your Reply.

How did you remove is from the members tab of a Segment? Could you explain that in more detail? For me there is no option to remove it from the members tab, just to delete the whole contact but I don't want to do this.

If I go to the Defintion tab and edit the Segment I can only disselect the contact that I have added in the Definition tab itself. If I want to unclick a contact that I added via contact --> add to Segment its not possible to uncheck it. There is no error message, but the Checkbox is still checked.

Thanks in Advance and best regards,

    Manuela

    Hi Manuela,

I added my test contact to only one static segment,

however, the "Remove from segments" dialog will directly show all static segment records.

Please also request it to Ideas forum if you think showing related segment of a contact would be a necessary feature.

    Clofly
