I have a been asked to set up the security for three salespeople teams, with five salespeople in each. Each sales person is supposed to be able to edit, add, and delete his/her own Business Relations and Contacts and being able to see other sales people’s Business Relations and their Contacts but not being able to edit, add or delete them. Is this possible with standard AX security? How should I go about it?

Thanks in advance for your valuable help.

Hi Enrique, In this case standard AX security will not work. With record level security it is only possible to make queries where some people just see there own relations, but if you create multiple user groups with own rights and own record level permissions, AX will cumulate the rights. EG: group 1: you can view customers (+ record level: customers group A) group 2: you can edit customers (+ record level: customers group B) if a user has the first group as permission he can only view customers of group A if a user has the second group as permission he can only view and edit customers of only group B if a user has both he can edit and the record level permission is group A + B. So he can edit both groups. You have to make some adjustments to meet the requirements. regards, André

    Dear André,

I did as you suggested. I created two groups one with Full Control privileges for certain records and another with Read Only privileges for other records, and applied “cascade” security. Unfortunately, it did not work. Apparently, the higher hierarchy overrode the Read Only privileges; it displays the records in both groups but with Full Control for all records in both groups. Did I miss anything? Is there something else I should do?

Thanks in advance for you kind help.

    Hi Enrique,

In my post I tried to tell you that the higher hierarchy indeed overrides the read-only access. In the case you mentioned you need to make an adjustment in AX to meet the requirements. You did not miss anything; it is not possible with standard AX.

    regards,
