Multiple exchange rate types in Management Reporter ?

(0) ShareShare

Is it possible to use different rate types depending on the report ? For example, report 1 will convert using an “actual” rate, and another one will convert the same accounts but with a “budget” rate ?

From what I see the rate type is attached to the Main Account in AX, so can not be different based on the report, am I right ?

Thanks

    Hi Antoine,

This is actually not quite how it works in MR.

The currency translation in MR is determined by the setup in AX.

You can create a report and show it in EUR, USD, ... whatever curreny you have specified in the ledger form of all your companies.

Details of that functionality are described here:

    blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/.../currency-translation

You can of course report on budgets and specify the currency display in the column definition but I am not absolutely sure if this is what you try to achieve.

Can you probably provide some additional Details on your issue and what you want to achieve exactly?

No, that's not exatcky what I mean.

Say I have 2 rate types defined in AX, called Type1 and Type2.

I then have an Income statement in MR, I want one report definition to convert all accounts using type1, and another report converting the same accounts but using Type2.

    Can I do that ?

    Thanks

    Hello Antoine,

As far as I am informed this is something that MR cannot do as you do not have a direct access to the rate types.

Yet, please lets wait for some other community members to comment on this maybe there is a secret trick that would allow what you need?!

If you are using the Actual scenario in Management Reporter, it will use the Exchange rate type assigned to the account. If you are using any scenario that is Budget, then it will use the Budget rate type associated in the Ledger.

    Hi Antoine,

I'm facing the same problem. Did you find a solution to how you can use multiple exchange rates for reporting?

    Thanks,

    Louis

Correct, Management Reporter uses the Currency Translation Type (Current, Average, Transaction Date\Historical) that is attached to the Main Account for translation.

You could use a different Exchange Rate Type by creating and using a different currency for the report. Budgets can also be setup to use a different Exchange Rate Type.

I have a requirement to define one budget exchange rate type for one account and other budget exchange rate type to other
Can we define different budget exchange rate type Main account wise?

    Not for Budget exchange rates.

As soon as I know, MR can convert accounts transaction in other currency as we have selected the type of exchange in Main accounts, so we can select only one type of exchange rate. So, theoretically it is not possible.

    Thanks,

Can we have multiple COA (Chart of accounts) used in MR instead of using multiple currency translations. If multiple COA is possible, then in 1 COA i can define one translation type and in another COA i can define another translation type.
