Warehouse Management - Bin setups for directed Put Away and Replenishment - Max Weight and Cubage

I'm trying to setup the Warehouse Management Jobs and I just realized that the bin unit of measure is not defined anywhere.

What unit of measure does the Max Weight and Max Cubage follow, I can't find documentation for it or I'm just not using the right search words.

I usually setup my items as metric but there are items that are standard, now the conversion is setup correctly but what does the bin follow?

Wouldn't want to accidentally allow users to place items on a rack/ bin that the bin can't handle.

I have the same question (0)

Hi there! Good morning, evening, or afternoon - depending on where you are :) Hope you are well today!

In Dynamics 365 Business Central, the Max Weight and Max Cubage for bins are typically measured in the base unit of measure defined for the items and locations.
    1. Max Weight: This follows the weight unit of measure (e.g., kilograms or pounds) as defined in the Item Card or Item Units of Measure. Ensure that the weight for each item is correctly set up in the system.
    2. Max Cubage: This is calculated based on the dimensions (length, width, height) of the items in the Item Units of Measure. The cubage is automatically derived and compared against the bin's maximum capacity.
    3. Bin Capacity Policy: The system uses the Bin Capacity Policy field in the Location Card to enforce these limits. For example, if the policy is set to "Strict," the system will block any attempt to exceed the bin's weight or volume capacity.
    4. Metric vs. Standard Units: Since you use both metric and standard units, ensure that the unit conversions are correctly set up in the Item Units of Measure. The system will handle conversions automatically when calculating weight and cubage for bins.
    To avoid overloading bins:
    • Double-check the Max Weight and Max Cubage values for each bin in the Bin Setup.
    • Ensure that all items have accurate weight and dimension data in their respective Item Cards.
    • Test the setup with a few sample transactions to confirm that the system enforces the limits as expected.
