Why can't I add resources to the task list in Project Operations?

I have created a project in Project Operations and assigned a couple of resources to the project.  I have also created a set of tasks in the Tasks tab of the project.  To do this I had to use an In Private browsing window to access Microsoft Project (I don't know if this could be part of the issue?)

When I next try to assign a resource to one of the tasks I get the error in the following screen shot.

After clicking on the Details link on the message, I get the following,

Correlation ID: 8665d840-3c74-4dd7-8163-d539c594d3d5

Any help would be gratefully received.

    Hi,

When you created the Project did you go via Dynamics to get to it or Power Platform open admin centre?

If this or something similar happened go via dynamics to PO and create a new project if you click on task after saving the project name it should show up with now need for In Private browsing.

The resources should be added normally then.

    Hi,

Thanks for your reply.  I do not access Project Operations via Power Platform open admin centre.  I just open a saved URL.

However, I am now able to view the Tasks pane in Project Operations without using an InPrivate window but I first need to open the Project via Microsoft Project in Office 365.  This takes me to the Task pane in Project Operations where I can view the project plan but I am still unable to assign resources to it.

I'm still investigating and I'll report back if I make any progress.

Could you try going to the task pane via project tab in o365.

Then click on Projects and create a new dummy project and go to tasks in that window. I know it sounds strange but I had a similar problem.

In the link you used before that you need to go to in private if you click on the change area can you see all the tabs?

    Hi

    Thanks for the reply

I followed your first suggestion, and I was able to create a new project and create some Phases and Tasks in the Tasks pane.  However, I was still unable to assign resources.

On your second question, if I open Project Operations using the link in an InPrivate window, I can see all of the tabs in your screenshot.

One last thing I can think of possibly what is your Team setup look like? It should not be the problem but worth checking.

Have you lodged a MS support ticket yet?

I haven't logged a support ticket yet, but will do shortly.

After comparing what I experience with another user, it looks like the issue is due to my set up because they are able to assign resources to tasks on one of their projects.  However, they can't assign resources to the tasks on the projects that I have set up.

    Hi Boamy,

Sounds like a good starting point.

Also wanted to check if you followed the troubleshooting guide from MS?

    Hi Leon,

Thanks for the reply.  I hadn't seen the guide you sent through, but I have just worked through each of the steps and everything looks to be set up correctly.

I had this issue and it took a long time to figure out what it was.... The role prices in the price list didn't have the fields Primary Unit Price and Primary Unit price (base) populated. This is from memory so they might be named slightly differently. I re-saved these by altering a description and this populated the two fields. After that it all worked.

Thanks for the reply.  I did manage to resolve the problem last week.

First, Chrome works much better than Edge for the integration to Project online.  Also, the roles that were assigned to the resources in Project Operations did not exist in the legal entity in Finance and Supply Chain.  I changed the roles so that they matched Finance and Supply Chain and it all started to work.

The environments I'm using are demo environments and the data is obviously not great.
