Send Email from Custom Table

Posted on by 315

From a Custom Table i Turned on Activities and can send emails from the activity. However the To part of emails, Portal Comments and all other activities is not set. Is there a way to overdide or set this value.

This seems to work for all native Dynamics 365 Tables eg case, Account, Contacts ETC.

    Hi Keliud,

"However the To part of emails, Portal Comments and all other activities is not set. Is there a way to overdide or set this value." i can't understand it.

Could you share screenshot about them?

For setting primary contact, Are you trying to emulate the primary contact on the account form?

If so, you need create two relationship between custom entity and contact(1:N and N:1),then add lookup field and sub-grid in the form based on these two relationship.

And the primary contact must be from sub-grid.

Basically what i have is a custom table, with activities enabled, This means i can add the timeline to my form and send emails, comments etc from my custom table. in my custom table i have a contact lookup.

When i create an email in the timeline, i want the to field to be set to the contact in my custom form.

RE: Send Email from Custom Table

I tried creating a Many to 1 relationship between my custom table and Email Table.

Mapping is available but will not work because email requires a party list in the to field. a shown below

The only approach so far is to use JavaScript on the email form to set the "To" field when the regarding source table is by custom table.

I can confirm that emails from the timeline  to not have the To field set, however  emails from the activities table work have the To Email set.

For Portal Comments, the To Part is not set from activities or timeline.

In My Custom Table i also have a relationship to a contact. how do i set this as the primary contact?
