I have a batch created in November which has a transaction dated for October.
If I post this batch now, would this October transaction post to GL in November or October date?

Where are the experts? I thought it was a simple question and just needed someone to confirm but, obviously, I was wrong.
Never mind, I've got the answer myself but I am really surprise to see no one responded...
The Posting Setup has all the options on how a transaction and/or batch is dated for posting date.
We could have provided a very long winded explanation to a very simple question. What you have discovered is that under Tools->Setup->Posting->Posting you can set, per module, how transactions post. You can post by batch date or by transaction date. You can allow or disallow transactional posting, post to the ledger or through as well as many other options. It is in these settings that you found the answer for which you sought. I would review those settings to insure transaction post as you want them to post.
