Upgrade from BC 17.0 to 17.1 when third party extensions are installed.

So we want to upgrade from BC 17.0 to 17.1, but the problem we have is that there is an extension installed from a partner that is now out of business.

The source code is not downloadable.

As it's a minor upgrade, is there any way we can keep this extension and upgrade to 17.1?

When we try to Invoke-NAVApplicationDatabaseConversion, it throws an error:  "There are records in the Installed Application table. You must uninstall all
extensions before upgrading the database"

I don't know about any method to export the packed app, and import it after upgrade, or to just upgrade the system and base appa, without removing the extension.

Also, I guess we will need to perform the platform upgrade, before installing the 17.1 base and system apps.

All this is, just because we want to use the "enhanced email capabilities", that's only available since BC 17.1

Any ideas?

Worse case escenario, we will make our own version of the third party extension, but just want to confirm if there is an alternative.

I have the same question (0)

Hi, As far as I know, you can't export the App file directly, but you can try to download it from the Extension Management page. (When the App is not a Runtime package and the ShowMyCode property is set to true, it can be downloaded.)

But please note this exported file cannot be compiled directly. It needs a little work from the developers.

    Hope this info will help.

Thanks, but as I said, the source code is not downloadable in this case.

I guess we will hape to develop our own version of the extension.

OK.. just in case, someone is concerned about the same issue...

When installing a cumulative update, you only need to uninstall all extensions, but after update, yoy can install them back again from extension management. You don't need to "Unpublish" the extensions, so you're good to go even if you don't have the extension's source code.
