Trying to install Word Addin we are getting this mesage: The upgrade patch cannot be installed by the Windows Installer service because the program to be upgraded my be missing, or the upgrade patch may update a different version of the program. Verify that the program to be upgraded exists on your computer and that you have the correct upgrade patch. Does anyone know what to do? Thank you.
We see this type of message from time to time, more when applying service packs onto Dynamics GP then installing the Word Addin for GP.
It usually means that the installer cannot verify the application we're trying to install onto, because it can't read the information it is looking for in the application via the Windows Registry.
In this case, I'm wondering if it is having trouble verifying that MS Office/Word is installed on the machine that you're trying to apply this Word Addin installation onto, as the addin is primarily installed on MS Word.
If you have more than one machine with MS Office/Word on it, as well as GP, try applying the Word Addin on that machine and see if you get it on all machines, or just this one.
