Async server installation error for Dynamics AX 2012 R3

When we try to install the Async Server and we receive the following error message "There is a problem with windows installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor." We have reviewed the TechNet article and have the SQLCMD utility installed on the server we are trying to install Async Server on.

you must install Microsoft Command Line Utilities 11 for SQL Server

Hi i already install Microsoft Command Line Utilities 11 for SQL Server, then trying to install Async Server but still giving same message after configuration and prerequisite complete.

there is problem with this window installer package. ... . . .

Contact your support package vendor...

I believe I've had this same issue when trying to install the Modern POS application. It would always stop around halfway through the installation and give this message box. The way mine was fixed was by literally just trying it at a later time. I left for the day and when I came in the next morning, it installed without a hitch. Other than just trying at a later time, you might try running windows update, this might have ran in between days.

Which version of SQL are you using , or on which version of SQL you are trying to install

Massage Database?.

I had same issue with SQL Server 2014 , so I've installed SQL Server 2012 Express advance in separate instance and installed async server without issue .

Optionally i've added AOS service account and Async Server service account to the newly installed SQL instance.

Please download "KB2992392 Async Server cannot be installed on a computer that does not have SQL Server Command Prompt Utility installed" from dynamics lifecycle services. I hade same issue and it solved after copying KB to instalaltion update folder.
