Updating Multiple Records

Hello

I have a number of unique records that are connected by a common ID (a field that exists in each of the records), these are not child records of the same parent incidentally.  Is there a way through a workflow that I when a given field updates in one or other of the connected records that the field can update in the others?

Thanks

    Hi,

If I understand correctly you want to update list of related record when one field is updated ? if yes, you can use custom workflow for this where you need to write a custom step to query and update list of associated records, or you can have a plugin which can run on specific field update and update related records.

    Hi,

Yes it is possible, you have to write custom workflow activity, which will be called in attribute change workflow.

when writing workflow activity make sure you are not triggering workflow in infinite loop. you might need to use some additional flags also to check field is updated and not need to trigger workflow again.

    Hi,

if you are using Dynamics 365 online, you also can consider to use MS Flow to achieve that.

Remember to construct the correct checking so you will not fall into infinite loops.

This is not possible via OOB workflows. You will have to do one of the following customisations:

    Hi Darren,

    As suggested here: community.dynamics.com/.../305836

There is no "No Code" way to achieve this yet. You will need to write custom code to achieve this functionality.
