How to check a field is in use in some code ?

Hi,

In AX 2012, when we have 1 custom field in a table, can we search is there any code using this particular field ?

I assumed this one ->

But nothing shows up, So I'm not sure whether it is not being used or the feature simply not working

Have you generated cross-references? If not, there is nothing to see. Consult How to: Create the Cross-Reference System.

How long normally the process ?

I ran this with check "Update all", the progress bar doesn't seem to move.

Definitely in hours, if you run it for the whole application.

It's a long time since I've worked with AX 2012 for the last time, so I don't remember exactly how long it took. It also depends on hardware, DB configuration, whether the DB is on the same machine etc.

When it completes, it's also a good idea to rebuild indexes of xRef tables.

Can I "focus" into 1 table though ? Since I only want to know a field from 1 table.

I noticed in the document you have shared, there is "selected" options. I haven't try now since it is still processing. But wondering if I select this way, will the result as my expectation, which is to know if the Field in question is being used in some code or not in my model.

You can filter by an individual object, but it'll build information what the object is using, not which objects are using it.
