How do I modify an existing dropdown (Activity Type) to include another existing record type?

Posted on by 101

My contact wants me to modify this highlighted dropdown menu (Activity Type) to include another option called Notes as a choice.

Goal: Notes as an option

Currently, I am new to Dynamics 365 Sales and my research only seems to lead me towards guides and documentations telling me how to rearrange the columns and add/remove them to the view which are completely irrelevant of what I am looking for.

I believe to make this possible I will need to modify the Activity Type enumeration somehow to include Note Entity, I am unsure about what the proper way to do this. Is there a page to modify relationships between two record types or append it to an existing column without distorting the data? (or if there is a better solution to doing this, please let me know.)

For clarity, the Notes that I am referring to is the Notes stored on the timeline when you open the Opportunity record.

For initial troubleshooting, I would go to gear > advanced settings > Customizations > Customize the System to reveal the Entities for both Notes and Activities but I am currently stuck on this step and don't actually know where to go from here.

This is the current version of the Microsoft Dynamics 365 that I am currently using right now.

Any help is much appreciated.

    Hi Joseph Candava,

    Unfortunately, it is not modifiable.

When you open the view you will find that it is not in the editable range.

The following screenshot shows the limited parts you can set in the Activity type field (advanced settings > Customizations > Customize the System > entity > activity > field):

But if you want to filter the records by fields you can customize a view.

It's hard for me to imagine how to filter the records with notes,

plus the relationships between the tables created by the system cannot be modified.

I managed to find this place (under Advanced Settings > Customise the system > Components > Entities > Activity > Fields > ActivityTypeCode) but I cannot seem to save my changes.

Am I on the right track? For reason, I cannot seem to save my changes on here.
