MO Status Changing

Hello,

We are using Dynamics GP2010 with manufacturing.  Our planners get upcoming MO's into an Open status but do not release until they are ready to allocate the inventory.  We have found that when labor is entered on the time card entry screen against an MO in open status, GP automatically changes the MO to released and allocates the inventory without any notice to the labor entry clerk.  This is causing us problems as we want the MO to stay in  Open status for various reasons.  How can we prevent this automatic status change?

Usually, this happens when an employee puts the wrong MO number on their time sheet.  If the labor entry clerk were to receive a notice that the MO is not released, she could kick it back and have the MO number fixed by the shop.  However, because there is no message she doesn't know it's a problem and the MO gets released and the labor gets coded incorrectly.  I'm hoping there is a setting somewhere that will control that.  Thanks.

-Trevor

I don't believe there is a setting, but wouldn't it be simpler to print a form with the MO number on it for labor entry to alleviate any mistake on the entry?

    I agree with Dan.

I don't believe there is a setting. To avoid this problem, we have developed an MO Traveler report that includes a MO number encoded bar code.  Using this method, you could dramatically reduce entry errors.
