Does anyone know how to reverse a fixed asset transfer in GP?

I had to transfer some assets and after I posted the transactions to the GL I noticed they were incorrect. Now I would like to reverse the transfer and start again.

    RE: Reverse Fixed Asset Transfer

    Hello jsherman525.

My name is Brandon and I am a support engineer for Dynamics GP with Microsoft and would like to provide information on your questions pertaining to reversing a Asset Transfer.

There is no process that lets you reverse a Fixed Assets Transfer. What you could try is:

I recommend all testing be done in a test company to ensure the end results are what is expected.

KB 871973 How to set up a test company that has a copy of live company data by using SQL Server 7.0, SQL Server 2000, or SQL Server 2005

    support.microsoft.com/.../set-up-a-test-company-that-has-a-copy-of-live-company-data-for-microsoft-dynamics-gp-by-using-microsoft-sql-server

    1. 1. Transfer the Asset back to the original PHysical Location, Location ID and Structure ID. If you changed the accounts by clicking the Blue Expansion Arrow, use the original account.
    2. 2. Next, re-transfer the Asset using the correct information.
    3. 3. Process the GL Posting Routine to verify the original transfer is reversing the GL and the new Transfer has the correct information.

If that does not work, the other option I see is:

    1. 1. Delete the book record.
    2. 2. Correct the GL for all posting from this Asset.
    3. 3. Recreate the Asset Book Record.
    4. 4. Run Depreciation and post to the GL.
    5. 5. Process the Transfer using the correct information.

    I hope this helps!

    Thank you!
