Is it possible to upgrade two managed solutions with one managed solution?

Lets say I have two managed solutions called Solution A and Solution B. Both are version one. I want to release a version 2 that is composed of only one solution that does not depend on either or only one of these solutions, but also can also be an upgrade for those solutions so that clients both past and future only need to install one solution to have the latest version. Is this possible to upgrade two managed solutions with one solution?

I have the same question (0)

    Hi John,

It is not possible. It will update the solution with the same name as previously imported.

Why dont you delete one of them and add all components to the other?

    Miguel,

You would lose all the data in the entities that you uninstall. The idea is that the entities in solution B would end up in the upgraded solution A (version2). The idea is that the upgraded solution A(version2), would contain everything in version 1 of solutions A & B.

Hi, yes and even if you add the entities from solution A to Solution B with upgrade, I believe you will not be able to delete solution A.

So from my point of view the only possible thing woud be to export all data, delete one solution and add its components to the other one. Finally import back all data.

But is it possible to installa managed solution (Solution A version 2) that would have the entities from Solutions A & B version 1. So that moving forward a new install would only be composed of solution A version 2 and old installations would just be adding upgraded version of solution A (version 2 then 3 ect...)

yes, from my point of view that makes perfect sense.
