Hi,

We have one requirement to change the country region code from one to another. Client already has so many transactions but now they are in need to change the country/region in the legal entity.

Is there any issues if we change now ?.

    +1 on Mauricio and Ludwig.

How many transactions are there already in the system? The most safe way would be creating a new legal entity. Otherwise, you will end up in testing the whole application to see if there might be impact. E.g. Tax declaration where some reference fields might be filled in an incorrect way for the new country/region. A lot of country/region dependencies are used in coding to get correct information per country.

For sure the external accountant should also be aware of this and possible approve the change.

    Hi,

    Agree with Mauricio.

I think that you can get into all kind of issues not only with country specific features but also with documents, such as invoices that have already been recorded in your system.

If you would create a copy of an already recorded invoice wouldn't it get the new and changed address?

That would be a 'no go' in my home country.

Please double check this in a demo / test environment and with your accounting guys.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

Hi Riswan, this is not a light change on the system you need to take into account all localization belonging to both countries, for example if one filed were not mandatory on Indian localization but yes in SAU you can have all sort of issues. Actually this is the one of the reasons why you don't have that option available once you start transacting in a company. This is definitely a not recommended action plan.

If you want to follow up this path, will suggest you to test this deeply, validate all sort of reports, specially statutory reports, tax reporting, etc..

    Regards

    Hi Nikolaos,

It is a mistake. Previous consultant did not set it properly. Client is in need to change it now as their tax system is not working properly with the existing setup.

    Riswan

Is this company really moving to another country? Or what is the background for this requirement?

    Hi Riswan,

i don't see any problem with all journals to be posted prior to address / country change. However i would recommend that you try this in non-production environment first if you fear that it may break something, once it's verified and updated successfully, you can make the change in production environment.

    Hi Sathish,

Apart from this, what is the impact on the Finance journal side, Project invoice etc.,

I mean if I change the current country/region from IND to SAU, functionally what type of precautionary measures I should take care. I mean there some of the journals are not posted. Do I have to post them before I change this ?. or no problems shall I proceed ?.

Please share your view on this or guide me to any other blogs which address my problem.

    Thanks ahead.

    Regards,

    Riswan.

    Hi Riswan,

The only impact that you will see is that the new address will start to get printed on any paperwork that you previously printed that had company address. Depending upon the country selected, you may have to populate additional fields on the legal entity form, if any requirement fields are missing, you will get the prompt.
