Sales item setup - Printing on demand "documents"

Hi people,

situation: in our sales process sometimes items like manuals, certificates or other documents (printing on demand articles) are needed for a delivery.

We print this kind of documents in the very end of the sales process, right before packaging and shipping.
Therefore we do not aim to put this items on stock like other items (avoiding to raise inventory value and pick&put to packaging location).

Our current item setup is thee following:

- Product type: Service --> avoiding to stock this items

- Minor group:"Document"--> for identification

This was the basic idea to filter for the POD-items, which is already working. Now we do have this issue:

Service items do not popup on the packing slip. We also cannot see them on the picking list. After doing some research i understand why this happens.

However I am still looking for the right setup to achieve the goal of listing the POD articles on the packing slip, without having to put them on stock first and pick them from an inventory location.

Really looking forward for your feedback!

Cheers,

niuB

Are you selling these manuals , Docs separately or is this bundled item (free of charge) with the main item which you are selling ?

    Thanks ,

    Hi Amith,

correct, these are bundled items and in general free of charge.

Only in super rare cases they are sold to a customer.

    Regards

    Hi nuiB,

If this is easier for you from a process perspective, what prevents you from setting up the items as stocked and just ignoring them when doing a stock counting, valuation, etc.?

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

If you are not selling them as separate item what is stopping you to  use those as attachments?. any way as per my knowledge  there is no  straightforward solution other than customizing .  As I see way out is  adding condition ( as prerequisites ) or checklist to be validated before you can proceed with printing Packing slip . once you complete checklist it will allow you to print packing list . Please note this is my own opinion /idea . there might be another options using Sharepoint + Power Platform.  to avoid complexity i think better to use those manuals as attachments.

    Thanks ,
