Hi,

I would like to block access to some GL (dimension) or main GL accounts for some users. Please guide me how I can assign and allow GL account to users.

What exactly do you mean by blocking access?

Hi,

OOB feature can not block access the account for users, but it can stop posting the account through the Posting validation on the Main accounts.

I am basically using organizational assignments in Dynamics GP. So, I am able to assign access to a specific account or a range of accounts to a user. With this feature, I am able to restrict the user's access to that GL account system wide. So for instance, if the user were to pull out a Trial Balance report, the restricted accounts would not appear to the user in the report. If the user were to pull out a ledger of a GL account, the restricted accounts would not be available in the lookups to the user. If the user were to post an entry from a module where a pre set off set account was a GL account that was restricted to the user, it would appear to the user as account missing/access denied and the user would not be able to post the transaction. I am looking for the same functionality in D365 FO, since I donot want users to be viewing certain GL accounts. For instance I do not want a data entry operator in the finance module to be able to see my trial balance/PL/BS and other financials or ledgers of the restricted accounts.

What you refer to seems to be XDS.

XDS would allow you implementing this restriction.
