I've been setting up a warehouse and was trying to set up aisles but I keep getting an info log saying

Profile Id is required

I've gone back through all my settings so far but I can't see were I'm suppose to enter this profile id or even were one might be generated either manually or automatically

I have set up the locations using the location wizard

any ideas?

Profile ID sounds like the Location profile Id, which is a field required for the new WHS locations.

I've just tried and I can successfully create aisles and out/in locations for a new warehouse that does not use WHS.

Can you describe in more detail the exact steps and data you are doing this on?

I'm using Dynamics AX2012R3 and using the new warehouse management process settings.

I've used the location wizard to set up my locations and gone back to the warehouses page.

Under inquiries I've then selected stock aisles.

I've then generated an aisle and selected stock locations

Then I've selected new and under the general tab filled in warehouse, aisle, rack, shelf, bin and then filled in all the physical dimensions.

Under the other tab I've then entered destination location and when I've pressed F5 to update it has then shown me the info log of:-

    BULK####

    PROFILE ID IS REQUIRED

To view the inventory aisles from the Warehouses form, click Inquiries > Inventory aisles. To attach locations to a warehouse automatically from the Warehouses form, click Functions > Location Wizard.

    Also try it:

    Hi Harold,

(to save typing, I'll refer to new R3 Warehouse Management as WHS)

You describe creating a location, and entering rack, shelf, bin etc.

These particular fields are set when using locations on warehouses that are not enabled for WHS. That form is available from Stock management -> Setup -> Stock breakdown -> Stock locations. You'll note that if you use this form to create a location, you cannot select Warehouses that are enabled for WHS.

To create locations for WHS enabled warehouses, you should use the form Warehouse management -> Setup -> Warehouse setup -> Locations.

I think the problem you have discovered is related to getting to the locations form via Warehouse management -> Setup -> Warehouse setup -> Warehouses. If you go here and click 'Inquiries' -> 'Stock locations', AX will show the correct form, depending on if you select a non-WHS or WHS warehouse. If you click 'Inquiries' -> 'Stock aisles' on a WHS warehouse you're into unchartered territory. I don't think these aisles can be configured for WHS warehouse locations. I would suggest that the 'Stock aisles' button on this form should be disabled if the warehouse is a WHS warehouse.
