How do I add more fields to the personalize menu? Dynamics AX 2012 R3

The personalize feature in Dynamics AX 2012 is very powerful for adding more information to a grid in an inquiry form or other data grid. However, sometimes I want to add a field that I know is tied to the data record, but isn't in the personalize menu.

For example, when viewing all released products in list view, I want to add the base sales price to the grid. When I right click and choose personalize, then add, I do not see this field in any of the options. There are other fields like this as well. For example, an ite'ms UPC. Or

How do we add more fields to the 'personalize' menu?

Thanks

It's probably because the field isn't used anywhere in the form (the default behavior is that you can't add such fields through personalization). You have to either add the field somewhere (e.g. on a tab and allow users to add it to a grid), or set its AllowAdd property to Yes.

Please refer to Enabling User Personalization of Forms for a detailed explanation.

Hi George, you could select the item initially and change your view into grid (ctrl+shift+G). From there personalize the specific field you want to show for your requirements its in "inventory parameter module".

If you want it on the list page we need to customize it.

Hi George. Regarding your specific example you are actually looking for a field on an entirely different datasource / table that isn't associated with this List page (inventTableModule). So it isn't actually just a "field" that needs to be added but an entirely new table. You would need to customise the list page's query before this field would become available.

    Hi

We're facing the same problem. The field is present in one of the tabs but not showing as an option in the personalize menu. Please help.

I have a similar issue. Will add it to this thread then it is all in one place.

On form PurchCreateOrder, when the end-user choose personalize and "Add Fields", the user must be able to add VendorRef field that is on PurchTable.

However when I go to Personalize and Add Fields, the only datasources available are Addresses, Locations, Worker, People, Worker (2), People (2), Confirming PO, Global Address Book and Global Address Book(2).  As you can see, PurchTable isn't listed.

I stepped through the code in sysSetupFormAddFields and it exclude all tables with a link type of Passive. All the tables listed have either a link type of outer-join or delayed. PurchTable has a linktype of Passive.

Looking at SalesCreateORder, it shows in the Add fields Personalization tree node, Sales Order  and Sales Order(2). However these two are in reality MCRSalesTable and MCRSalesTableShipping. The dictionary description for them indicate that they keep Salestable header info. Their link type is Delayed. So they are not SalesTable itself. SalesTable has also the link type of Passive.

Now, will I break any AX sys layer code if I change PurchTable from link type Passive to Active? There must be a reason why Microsoft set up the main data source with link type Passive. The AllowAdd property of the field in question (VendorRef) is Restricted, so will have to change it to Yes, but I first need to get PurchTable on the list of datasources to select the field from to add it to the form.

If I cannot change PurchTable link type to active, any other suggestions how to get PurchTable on the list?

    Hi R-AX,

You better to open new tread for your question, then only someone prefer to give solutions.

    Thanks
