Financial dimensions in Open in excel

Offical docs: docs.microsoft.com/.../dimensions-overview

Hey all,

I am trying to show department and cost center financial dimension in Open in excel for General journal line entry. I followed the steps from MS Docs to show them in separate columns. It shows the values but not able to update the Main account and dimension from excel. It reverts back to blank or previous values when published from excel. Also the lookup is not showing.

One thing that surprises me is that user says he was able to see the financial dimensions in separate columns along with Main account in excel and it was updating values while there were no customization.  I remember we activated some new Financial dimensions last week and this issue reported after that.

Any idea how can I update main account and financial dimensions in separate columns? what could be the issue.

Using Excel 2016

Application release: 10.0.15 (10.0.644.20022)
Platform release: Update39 (7.0.5816.41532)

I have the same question (0)

    Hi AR01,

    The documentation site mentions two options. Did you use the first or the second option to add the dimensions? I'm a bit confused where you say the issue started after implementing new dimensions. Did it work correctly before the new dimensions? Did you change names of existing dimensions?

    Thanks for the response.

    I used the first option to add dimension. No, we didn't change name of existing dimension. The Issue reported a week ago, I remember the only activity we did is activating new financial dimensions.

    I can see the correct values of financial dimension in excel but it doesn't update when published.

    Hi, yes it is a bug, the workaround is :

    in the excel Click on the Design button;

    edit the journal line table;

    find Account Display Value – Account and add it to the Selected fields and add the OffsetAccountDisplayValue – Offset account

    and remove the Account.MainAccount – Main account and DimensionDisplayValue – Financial dimension fields

    and remove the OffsetAccount.MainAccount – Offset account and OffsetDimensionDisplayValue – Offset Financial dimension field

    then update Design and Refresh

    Is the bug in FO or Excel?

    In that case, user need to update different values in single column separated by -. User wants to update in separate column. They say they were able to do it a week ago. Any work around?
