When users log into GP there is this process called DSO that appears in the process monitor. What is this and what does it do?
That makes perfect sense. She normally calls me at 7am as she is the first person in each day. I wonder if DSO could be causing posting problems. Every Monday morning the first batch she posts gets stuck. She does not use Collections Management so I may remove it from her DYNAMICS.SET file.
No, it is a company-wide setting. I think the first user in for the day triggers it to run. The feature can be disabled/configured in Collections Management Setup.

Is this DSO feature user specific?
The feature can be disabled in Collections Management Setup.
Before disabling it, have the client poke around all the DSO references in the module (for example, from the Collections Main window). It is an important metric for collections that includes graphics, summaries, reports.

This process has been seen to run for up to 3 minutes. So any posting gets stuck behind it.

The environment as Professional Advantage's awesome Collections Management installed. I think the first user each day triggers the Days Sales Outstanding (DSO) to recalculate.
I'm not aware of anything 'DSO' either, besides a third party related to SAP and/or PeopleSoft......

I've never seen this acronym and would suspect it has something to do with a 3rd-party add-on...
Have you tried to capture the startup process with a DEXSQL trace in Dex.ini ?
