Hi,

I want to know the following
1) For a D365 FO to have vanilla golive what all things are required.

2) or else say lets they went live but with small changes

Below are some questions but need more details.
Environment readiness
Technical inputs - where its required in the whole process
Admin process - what all needs to be setup - I think devops , VSTS,
Architect - Define model and best practices to be followed, what branches would be required
Steps to be followed overall with questions like

How do you set up Azure DevOps and branching for an F&O project? (Main/Release, TFVC vs Git, build and release pipelines, LCS asset upload/deploy tasks)

Walk me through your data migration approach and how you sequence entities.

How do you handle a gap in a fit-to-standard project? (Config -> feature -> ER -> Power Platform -> ISV -> extension)

How do you manage One Version updates without breaking the business? (Sandbox-first, RSAT regression, release notes review)

What is your go-live cutover approach? (Runbook, dress rehearsal timings, reconciliation, rollback)

How do you deploy to production? (Combined deployable package, LCS service request, no direct access)

How do integrations authenticate? (Entra ID app registration, OAuth, service accounts, secret rotation)

What is Golden Config and why does it matter?

How does security design affect licensing?

What would you automate first with RSAT and why?

This is not a single question. You should create quite a few threads for your various questions, because having a thread with a hundred replies jumping back and forth between many different topics would be very difficult to follow (and many people would simply give up trying to get involved in that chaos).

For example, the question about branching doesn't belong to this thread (D365 FO Vanilla Go live) at all. If you want to discuss it anyway, create a new thread and tell us more about your requirements and what particular questions you have about that.

When you want to discuss data migration, create a thread with an appropriate title and explain what you want to migrate, from what system and so on. There isn't a single approach for migrating anything from anywhere and with any requirements.

Some of your questions, such as how to deploy to production, are already covered by the documentation. Make sure you read it first and then ask specific questions if needed.

When you say "devops, VSTS", you probably mean a single thing - Azure DevOps (which used to be called VSTS).

Also, tell us something about your background. It sounds like you're going to manage an ERP implementation without any knowledge about it, which sounds weird. More likely, you already understand a few things (and you don't need us to explain them to you) and you'll hire some experienced people who'd help you with some aspects.

In this thread, let's cover just the first question: "For a D365 FO to have vanilla golive what all things are required."

Does it mean that you already know that using vanilla F&O is sufficient, because you've analyzed all business processes that you (your client) need to cover and have a plan how to support them by F&O?

Or do you mean that you'd ideally want to use vanilla F&O if possible, but you don't know yet whether it's possible and you want to learn basic things like the fit/gap analysis?
